disability allowance questions

hi its my first ppst so unsure where to post it so apologies in advance..i am claiming for disability allowance at the moment due to severe tinnitus which affects me mentally and leaves me depressed alot.
i built up some savings over the many years to the tune of 22,000 euros but with the department wanting a 6 month bank statement wont they take unkindly to that or perhaps stop me altogether? id just like any advice or someone who might know better than me.

Just to add to the comment of notjustsweet...

Dont forget that you can also work part-time and keep your payment. You can earn up 120 euro per week in rehabilitative work, subject to the permission of Social Welfare, without it affecting your payment.

"Income from work
You can do rehabilitative work (which includes self-employment) and earn up to €120 per week (after deduction of PRSI, any pension contributions and union dues) without your payment being affected. You notify the Department of Social Protection before you start work.

50% of your earnings between €120 and €350 will not be taken into account in the Disability Allowance means test. Any earnings over €350 are fully assessed in the means test."
