    Hi everyone

I applied for DA around this time last year, it was granted in July. On the form, where they ask how long is the condition expected to last, my doctor ticked 12 - 18 months.

Will the payment end then? Will I receive a review? What's the review procedure? I still have my illness.

    Thanks

    Hi curiousnotgeorge ,

No, your payment will not automatically end then, however it could be identified for review at the period based on the comments of your doctor.

So it might be best to prepare for a review in the weeks leading up to the 12 - 18 month deadline.

The key issue for DSP will be for them to determin if you still suffer from the disability that prevents you from taking up employment, what efforts you have made to seek to rehabilitate yourself, if your condition has improved/disimproved and what level of physical capacity you have at the time.

The most important issue for them will be if you are able to engage in 'any type of work' not just the work you may have done in the past.

Make a list comparing your capacity/ability when you sustained the injury/disability and your levels of capacity/ability when (if) any review happens. Any adverse impact on your ability/capacity or quality of life, coupled with increased medication or treatments would substantiate your continued disability and need for the payment.

    Regards,
