Sudden cold sensitivity after cleaning

I had a routine teeth cleaning last week, and since then, I've had some cold sensitivity in one tooth, specifically on the front surface and nowhere else. Initially I didn't pay much attention (I thought maybe the gum was bruised from the cleaning or something), but it was quite noticeable walking home in the cold this evening. I've a dentist appointment for a checkup the week after next anyway; am I okay leaving it til then?

If you get an answer post back, same happened me about 4 months ago.My teeth thank god are in good shape so it had been 4 years since I got a clean.
Went for check up all ok and got a good clean done, then like you sudden cold sensitivity in two teeth...back to dentist and found nothing wrong and I even got a second opinion still nothing wrong.
Now I am left with bad sensitivity in two teeth since clean and it's something I never had...

Well, I used to have some temperature sensitivity years ago, dentist could find nothing wrong and it went away. Maybe it's just returned to haunt me :)

It's not a big deal; I just get slightly paranoid about this sort of thing.

Plaque tends to accumulate at gum level. As it accumulates it causes gums to first lose attachment around the tooth then to recede/shrink. Both of these cause the root surfaces to become exposed. When the plaque deposits are removed, the cleaned root surfaces are exposed and can be sensitive until the gum reattaches to the tooth surface.

You may wonder why get teeth cleaned if the result is sensitive teeth, the answer to that is, more plaque accumulation means more recession of gums and more loss of supporting bone. You wouldn't need to worry about sensitive teeth if they become so loose that they have to be removed. Also, recent studies have shown an increased risk of heart disease in patients with gum disease.

The sensitivity will pass as the gums heal, in the meantime use sensodyne classic/original toothpaste. When finished brushing, put some paste on your finger, rub directly onto sensitive teeth and leave there for 2-3 mins.

Ah, cool, thanks, it's normal enough then? I've been getting a cleaning every six months for a while, don't remember it happening before. Anyway, will see how it goes; thanks for the response :)
