Title says it all, currently on a mediocre speed (2/3Mbps) with Sky. Fibre wasn't an option to us when we signed up a few months back. Got a call out of the blue today from Imagine saying they may be able to offer us broadband on their fibre package (we tried before but couldn't get proper speeds so didn't install).

Given that Imagine think they can offer us their guaranteed speeds (I think it's 20+Mbps) does that mean we could potentially upgrade our current Internet connection with Sky?

Or are these 2 types of connections completely independent of each other?

They are all usually just resellers of Eircoms copper lines, so unless I am missing something, it seems unlikely.

It dosnt use the copper lines. Its LTE broadband. Wireless. Give it a shot. They will charge a 100 euro to send out a team to check what speed you will get. It needs to be above 30mbs I think for them to install it. Tried to get it at my parents place but there was a hill in the way so couldnt get a signal.

Imagine are selling you "Fibreconnect" which is LTE(4G similar to on your phone), nothing to do with Fibre.

Its their own system that cannot be ordered via anyone else

Didn't charge me a 100, just said speed not good enough and wouldn't install.

They take a deposit of 100 and if they cant get the required speed you get it back. If they can install its an extra 50 euro.

This is exactly what happened with us previously

Only way you can get out is if they change your contract, you buy out the remainder of your contract or see out the remainder.

@cahergowan you should have gotten a letter in the last few days. 3 are changing their T&Cs and now you should be able to get out.
