I have been accepted onto a PGCE Primary course for Sept 2017 and was just wondering if there was anyway I could register to substitute for the remainder of this school year?

To use an unqualified person is a nightmare and is a total last resort requiring evidence of trying. You must also hold garda vetting disclosure before you'll be let inside the gates

I think schools generally only use unqualified subs if they've had them there on TP?
