I need a plumber but can't afford one until Thursday! I am hoping that somebody on here may be able to help me!
My kitchen sick is blocked... I am not sure with what but there was a load of rice stuck in it. I picked most of it out and tried to unblock it with a plunger. I also put down two bottles of drain unblocker and some caustic soda but nothing has worked.

I know that you are meant to be able to open something under the sink to clean it out but looking I cannot see what I am meant to be unscrewing!!! I have attached a pic of under the sink. Can anybody advise me about what I should be unscrewing! Thanks in advance :-)

THat's very poor workmanship, unscrew the cap on the grey circular trap on the left, make sure you don't disturb any of the pipework as you may cause a leak, you'll need a container to catch whatever comes out.

Thanks for the tip, I will try it later :-)

The sink was put in by a neighbour, who works as a qualified plumber! When he was putting it in I went into town. When I came back he had cut bits of the pipes that came with the sink... It was from Ikea and he said that they were **** and always causing problems! He said I wouldn't need any of the bits he cut off!!!

Had bought a new dishwasher too and had it stored in my dogs bedroom which was at the back of the house (just a normal bedroom that wasn't being used). He was to fit it in the kitchen and when I got home he had plumbed it into the dogs bedroom!!!
I won't be asking him to come fix the problem I am now having!!!!!

There is no excuse for leaving something like that.

To be honest I would be very reluctant to touch that with out being prepared to replace the whole lot. You could end up with all sorts of leaks and trouble

I am now afraid to touch it! Ill wait until payday and keep using the bathroom!
The dishwasher is still working and I am using it. I guess that that is ok :-)

I got it sorted by poking with the tool that comes with the drain unblocked!

Thanks for all the advice. I am going to get the whole system changed before summer... hopefully not too expensive.
