Is studying medicine feasible?

I had a rough time for the first three years of secondary school and ended up doing hardly any of second and third year including not being able to do my junior cert due to some personal issues.
I was thankfully able to change schools and skipped TY and went straight to fifth year and I'm doing the following subjects: Irish (OL), English (HL), Maths (HL), Geography (HL), History (HL), Biology (HL), Art (HL). I want to study medicine but I understand it would be next to impossible to get in considering my subjects. Im thinking of changing to a school which specialises in the leaving cert course and changing my subjects to science to get a better chance of getting medicine. So far this year Biology has been my best subject and I've always loved science. I wanted to get other people's opinions if this was possible given the fact that I haven't done science for JC and if I could accomplish this in general? I'm willing to go abroad if I don't get the points or fail the HPAT but the universities I've looked at require all science subjects.

    Thanks!

Yeah people in my Chemistry class took it up for the first time in 5th year, not having done JC Science and they seemed to find it okay. When you say move to a school that specialises in Leaving cert courses what do you mean? If you're talking about 'schools' that cover some subjects in a year for repeats or whatever I think you'll find it hard to come across a school that will teach Chemistry or Physics in one year. They're large enough courses. My advice would be to try and see if you could do Chemistry externally. Start working on it now and hire a grinds tutor over the Summer maybe and you should be able to catch up by September. Discuss it with your guidance counsellor in school. He/she will be able to give you the best advice.

I was thinking of repeating 5th year entirely while taking up the new subjects

As far as I know (now I'm not 100% sure of this) NUIG and maybe UCD only require applicants to have done only at least 1 out of Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Ag Science to do Medicine, so your subjects would be fine, provided you get the points.

Oh yeah that'd be completely doable!

There is, they teach from scratch with time for revision but I'd probably get in trouble if I mentioned the name of the school :D
