Wedding trouser from straight leg to slim fit

Is it possible to get a pair of straight leg trousers altered so that they are more slim fit. My boyfriend has his wedding suit but would prefer if the trousers were slimmer around the bottom of the leg area. If anyone has done this before we'd love to hear about it.
