News just breaking he has died after a surgery.
Very good actor in my opinion and was pretty funny in true lies.
    Pity. RIP

After reading an article on his death it turns out I have always been confusing Bill Paxton with Bill Pullman.

    He has been Terminated.

    A very good actor.

Had big and small roles in some very iconic movies.

Great actor and the kind of actor that if I seen he was in the film I didn't know, I'd be more likely to watch it.

    Sorry for his loved ones.

But honestly, this hagiography for celebreties and actors, singers and so on is just ridiculous now.

Are they any better than those in your own family/circle that you lose? That won't be on media either.

Better to go quietly and rage against the dying of the light if you can before you go.

I can! What film was it from?

The Indwpendent have called him "Titanic actor Bill Paxton..." which seems odd. Twister.is the film I'd most associate him with

If a family member died I wouldn't post it here because no one here would know them.
Unlike, say, an internationally famous movie star whose movies a lot of people here have enjoyed.

Well celebrities generally have high profile lives where very little escapes the attention of the media. So when an actor or singer dies it get printed all over the news. That along with the fact that these people are well remembered for their work because they bring us much joy and happiness. It's not that they are any better or more important than a normal person, but there is a very big difference between mourning a celebrity who is very well known to the public, and mourning a stranger who people know very little of.

Anyway it's sad to hear nonetheless. He was right in the middle of doing a new tv series, Training Day.

The guy sure knew how to play the douchebag characters. I loved his small part in True Lies especially.

I always liked him in a film.He directed and starred in a terrific film called Frailty.I don't think t's that well known but it's really creepy.Matthew McConaghey is also in it.

The last TV show I saw him in was Marvel Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. He played a baddie who I hated. You felt the right emotions when he played different characters. There was no in between. Such a fine actor. R.I.P. Bill Paxton :(

Loved him as John Garrett in Agents of S.h.i.e.l.d such a presence on screen.

He made a lot better films than that.

    Twister is an awful film.

Some of his best work, imo was in Big Love (at least in the first 3 seasons). He did a great job portraying his characters arrogance and vulnerability.

It's one of the few where he is the main actor, he was almost always in supporting parts. So it's perfectly reasonable for it to be the film most associated with him.

Still an awful film and not what he should be remembered for.

I love the Sean Ernst tweet up there. I mostly remember him as the almost disturbingly white grin from Twister and that film did actually inspire my interest in the weather and so my career. It's a bad movie, sure, but it's fun and tornadoes chase people! Seen him in a couple of things since, but it's Twister that stands out.

It's not that bad in fairness and it features a fabulous performance from Philip Seymour Hoffman.
