Self employed and eventually claim job seekers

    Just wondering if this is possible these days if say you works a few years self employed and if you eventually needed job seekers allowance ? I have the option to go self employed but if you're strictly cut off from ever claiming job seekers allowance then I don't think it would be worth the risk
