Aldi Area Manager Programme

    Hi everyone

I'm aware there's a thread already on this but as it's pretty out of date, I didn't want to drag it back up.

Just wondering if anyone has any feedback/ infor regarding the programme?
I'm aware that it's very hard work, but I think it's something I'd be interested in. I'm looking for a total career change and change of pace so I am very tempted.

Is anyone here working as an area manager or know anyone who is?

Any and all info appreciated :)

I think I posted this in the other thread, I know 3 folk who have started there:

    1. Still there, loves it
    2. Hated it, quit on the spot after being promised time off 3 months in advance and had it changed at 8pm the night he was supposed to be off for a week
    3. Left after 2 weeks, just knew it wasn't for them, nothing really good or bad with it, just thought "nope, this is not what I want" and left.

So that's probably of no help at all!

No that's great thanks! Kinda sums up what I've heard.... mixed!

Can I ask for the person who loves it, what exactly is it that they love? If you know

I'm not sure to be honest, I know he was well aware of the long hours, changing working days and travel.
He also said it was something to have on the CV and then move, that it will stand to him.

To be fair the lad that left, was being messed around by his manager on the day off requests, that might not be indicative of the whole company and could happen anywhere. He quite enjoyed the work before that.

I'm sure the Audi and 60k are what he loves. Can't imagine anyone enjoying the job itself. Have a friend doing it, you're basically paid to be a bit of a tool to everyone else. Hard to make friends with people as well because you're technically above them.

Yeah that is a good point. I suppose that's probably true of most higher level managerial posts. How long has your friend been doing it if you don't mind me asking?

A bit over 2 years as far as I can remember.

Thanks for that. Is he sticking with it because he thinks it's a good job/opportunity or because he feels stuck?

I have a group interview with them Friday and I am really keen to get the job. I have heard all the ugly stories and success stories but I know my own mind and work ethic, I am prepared to do what it takes. Looking at the rest of my career. Did your friends say it was very hard to get through the 3 stages razorblunt? I'm confident I have what it takes but would appreciate every ounce of help I can get with interview tips.

Money. Save enough for a deposit to buy a house.

That would be a big part of my motivation too, to be honest.

Thanks for the info, really appreciated!

Can I ask how long was between submitting your application and getting called for interview? Submitted an application back in January and haven't heard anything since other than auto response email. Trying to figure out if it's the norm for them or if I'm out of the running
    Thanks
