i might be directing a play about a band but the problem is that its already been done in the commitments and the blues brothers. Any ideas from anyone here on how to make it original?

Remember those movies had very strong characters in them. They would not have made it just on the basis of music alone, the characters and dialogue made the movies, the music lifted them to classics. Get your characters right and originality is not an issue.
