Planning Issues

Hi all, fought very hard for planning over a number of years on a site near my parents, went all the way to head of planning who told me face to face that there was no way we would ever get planning on said site due to a dangerous bend. Less than 2 years later someone else has applied and gotten planning on the same site - first time, no mention of any of the reasons why we were refused. Surely a bend that was dangerous less than 2 years ago is still dangerous now? Does anyone have any opinions on this, when I say I tried everything to get planning I mean everything, I involved numerous local
Politicians but was told no every time. I grew up on the road and the site was belonging to a family member. Feeling pretty disillusioned and bitter about the planning process. I intend chasing this as I want answers but have a feeling the council will just find a way to fob me off. Has this happened to anyone else?
