As a complete gaming noob, would this be worth getting or would I be better off paying the extra for a ps4? I have never had a game console and haven't a clue where to start.I would only be into casual gaming like golf games etc. €200 seems like a good price for that wii

The Wii U doesn't have much in the way of sports games although there is a pretty good HD remake of Wii Sports.

If you're into Nintendo's own games in general though, there's plenty of great titles available, not least the 2 that come with this deal.

Keep in mind though that the reason they are being reduced is that Nintendo's new console launches next week.

It's out of stock in all stores and has been for a few days.

The Wii U with just Mario Kart is 199.99 though and in stock in most stores.

Would the games for the new wii be backward compatible?

Games for the Switch will not be playable on the Wii u.
Nor will Wii u games be playable on the Switch.
The new Legend of Zelda game will be seperately released for both systems next Friday.

Wii U is class, it's now completely hackable, great buy but you would struggle to say more than say, 20 great+ games ever released on it, shame, great piece of kit, been playing Shovel Knight and Axiom Verge since XMas....

You can play all Wii games on Wii U.

So, both catalogues available and you can buy Nes, Snes, N64, Wii, Gameboy and DS games through the Nintendo shop to play on Wii U.

To be fair, if its only casual sports titles you're looking to play, the Xbox One is only about €50 more expensive and tenfold better. Even the old Xbox 360 or PS3 second hand cost around €70 now and there's an enormous back catalogue of excellent sports titles that cost pennies now.
