Can one still use it without registering? It's a public road is it not?

You won't be allowed through certain checkpoints, you'll have to do a detour

They have a road closure in place at two locations for which they have acquired permission from KCC. This basically means that for the time allotted they own these sections of road and can refuse entry to these to anyone that is not registered for the cycle. Correctly so imho.

I agree. How would it be fair to allow non-registered cyclists to participate when everyone else had to register, fundraise etc! Plus it would end up being a mess with far too many Turning up looking to cycle the route. The Gardai have more than likely specified how many can safely do it.

I'm sure the OP could cycle it at another time if they don't want to register for this actual event!
