Does swimming make you feel exhausted the next day ?

    Is chlorine a factor ?

I'm getting fit and now at 50 lengths of a 25 metre pool but only once a week usually.

It's wiping me out the next day though

Been reading up about it here

I don't do any other sport so I can't compare it.

How long does this take? how much swimming did you do in your youth or conversely did you learn to swim late in life?

Your tiredness is due to the effort you are putting in. Chlorine doesn't come into it.

If you feel elated after your swim, that's the endorphins telling you, you weren't slouching

Yeah, after a tough swim I'm wrecked the next day!

If you're only swimming once a week, your general swimming fitness is going to improve relatively slowly, so you'll always find it tougher the next day as your body won't adapt as quickly and will recover more slowly. Swimming is an all body workout unlike many other forms of exercise, so can be pretty taxing.
