    Hi Guys,

My mams 15 year old jack Russell x is after been diagnosed with cushing disease, now with this her liver is inflamed and the vet along with medication has recommended her diet to change.

We normally feed her GAIN, but the vet has said royal canine Hepatic would be good. This is 18euro for a 1.5kg bag.

This is obviously very expensive and I am no animal nutritionist but with reading the form here people don't highly recommend RC.

Is there any other brand that would have the equivalent values or even better then the royal canine with a cheaper price tag?

    Thanks a mill

The thing is, the vet is recommending a prescription diet, some posters here do have issues with the RC food you can buy in shops, but the vet food, the same as Hills, is completely different. (I don't mean the usual range that some vets will sell, but the vet specific food) I'm not a big fan of Hills, but I really do rate their ID when dogs have been ill.

You can get the vet food cheaper on line, on zooplus as well as other sites. Which Gain were you feeding? You may have been feeding more of that than you will the RC anyway, so it may not be quite as expensive as you think.

Good luck with whatever you do.
