Eir Cashback Scam

    Hi folks,

I wasn't sure where to add this so please move it if required.

I just got an email today from eircashback@sweete.ie to say thanks for choosing an eir package and here is €50 cash back..

It then states to go to www.eircashback.com and enter your unique code in the email and fill in your details and bank details and they'll send you the €50 to spend it on whatever you want, sounds great..

Anyway, checked with Eir and they sent no such email..

So, just a heads up to anyone else, don't click anything..

Not sure where they got the details from that I'd signed up to an eir package...

    ## Edit ##

I just spotted this in another eir thread:

    http://touch.boards.ie/thread/2057567390/1/#post102729109

I'm thinking it's not a scam now, what was eir chat talking about??

Its a scam ...... have been getting such emails for a couple of weeks now and have not signed up to any eir offer in the last number of years!

Coincidence probably. If they send out enough of them they'll get someone who has signed up. I had the same where I bought something off an online retailer and 2 days later got an email purporting to be from them with a link to my "invoice" from that same retailer that turned out to be a Google ID phishing scam. Again, just coincidence.
