Out of sync audio and visual on TV

I receive my TV reception via a Triax TR212 saorview box connected to a Samsung HDTV.

On occasions, the audio and video go out of sync and I am trying to establish the reason(s) for this - whether it is a problem with the Triax box, the TV or a broader reception issue? I use the Triax saorview box as I can record a programme to a connected external HD at times.

To solve, I move the channel selector up or down one channel and it resolves the issue. There does not appear to be pattern to this issue so I am wondering if anyone here has any ideas or suggestions.

    Thanks in advance.

I had a similar experience with my Ariva receiver and an older Philips TV. I always suspected something in the hdmi handshake as the cause. Sound through the component outputs connected to my stereo was always in sync. A new TV fixed it for me.

yep, have it with a sat box too....to overcome it i just change channels...happens with recordings too sometimes ..so just pause it and play and its back to normal

just one of those things i guess

I experienced something similar a few years ago with a Triax unit. I brought it back to the shop and exchanged it for another brand. No more problems.

I had the same problem with this particular box the Triax 212 box.Changing channels used to sort the problem.Have an older Triax 112 box.Never had any problems with it. I sent an email to Triax about the problem but got no reply. If you watch the channels directly through the TV rather than through the box you should have no sound synchronization problems.

Thanks Edward, I also had a Triax TR112 earlier and never experienced this issue. I upgraded to the twin tuner TR212 model, so I guess it is an inherent fault in the TR212. Not a big problem really, it happens also with recordings on occasions, similar to philstar's post earlier.

    just out of interest...

is the Triax TR212 a more advanced model to the Triax TCS114 ?

I don't know but I would doubt it very much - the TR212 is a basic twin-tuner box without a HD, it followed on from the single tuner TR112, which was a single tuner box.

No, the 114 is a combo, the 212 is terrestrial only.
