There are moments in your life when you remember where you were when something extraordinary happened - JFK getting shot, the world trade centre being hit by two planes, the Berlin wall falling, and so on.
Apart from Ireland beating England at the euros in 88, which lets face it never really registered on a truly global stage, we, in this country, have never had one of these events. Fortunately, this is no longer the case and RTE have decided to treat us to a documentary concerning the day that Ireland were world news.

And, so, dear AHers, I ask you, where were you the day Ireland beat NZ in a friendly in a minority sport?

All organised sports in Ireland are minority sports

In the pub with friends watching that test match. Everybody was celebrating the victory. Same faces that where celebrating beating Italy in the euros mind you.

    What a match.

I turned on the laptop and opened the BBC site and saw the result.

I hadn't known the game was on and it had zero impact on my life in any way. Great day for rugby fans though I'm sure.

EDIT: I did think the 'NOBODY beats Ireland 29 times in a row" thing that came out afterwards was funny though.

It's sad that you feel the need to begrudge things that you don't like.

    Just sad.

I completely ignored the game and was probably doing something more worthwhile and interesting

Why are rugby types so upset when someone says anything about their little club?
    Is it the steroids?

    I'm not upset. I don't give two ****s what you think :)

I just pity you because other people's hobbies clearly disturb you in some way. Bye now.

Your ennui to what I think has made you post twice?
    I'm glad you're so calm.
