Derek Mooney - Genius or Not a Genius

While listening to the ineptly name 'Mooney goes Wild' I felt a strong sense of macabre sweep over me. The question then came to me, is Derek Mooney a genius, or the exact opposite, is he not a genius. Keep it relevant and on topic guys and get your points across in as little posts as possible as I think the thread locks after 10000 posts. Take this opportunity to discuss guys and enjoy it, it's your thread..

So you went with the not a genius option? May I ask why?

I'd say he's a genius or not a genius. Or maybe something inbetween, which is not a genius. So he's one or the other.

When he's on the topic of the environment and wildlife he's fascinating. Rest of the time..well my mum love's him.

This thread is a waste of the internet

He's somewhat better on the radio than he was during his stint on Winning Streak but I still wouldn't listen to him.

I enjoy his camp attitude to the simplest of things. He's always in good form. His wife is lucky to have such a happy man!

OK so I'll ask the obvious.

    Who?

Go to 1:10 and see that he is in fact, an idiot.

He came across as a **** on winning streak. The level of chirpiness he exudes is irritating.

Derek Mooney is not a genius, far from it - he is, at most, a sh*t stain on the fabric of society

    Genius .

Because he gets away with setting up hidden cameras to look at tits in people's gardens etc , advertises this fact on the national airwaves and nobody bats an eyelid ...

To be as monumentally beige a broadcaster as Derek Mooney and still get paid his fat salary, he must have something. Still, it is RTE we're talking about.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,417 ✭✭✭ToddyDoody

Would anyone like to get their hands on Mooney's money?

    I'd say well meaning gob****e :)

Some interesting comments here guys but I feel some of you are being a bit harsh and possibly underrate Derek. His earlier work on live at 3 was excellent and his chemistry with Teresa Lowe was undoubtedly a highlight. Perhaps working alongside another co presenter again would show he still has what it takes.

I lost many a night's sleep thinking about Teresa Lowe. Those panty-hosed legs circa 1991 drive me wild.

Definitely having a tug looking at this picture tonight. Teresa Lowe looks nice in it too.
