Received this email from CPA today

    Dear Member,

I write to advise you that CPA Ireland and the Institute of Incorporated Public Accountants in Ireland (IIPA) commenced discussions in mid-2016 on a range of possibilities for closer collaboration between both Recognised Accountancy Bodies.

These discussions have progressed in a very professional and open manner and we have now reached the stage where we have a tangible proposal, in principle, on which we will consult with members and seek feedback.

Initial consultation will take place within the framework of the Review of Professional Issues Series, the schedule for which is below.

    Date Location Start Times Venue
Thursday 23rd February Dublin 7pm Elm Park Hotel
Wednesday 1st March Galway 6pm Clayton Hotel
Thursday 9th March Limerick 6pm Strand Limerick Hotel
Wednesday 15th March Cork 6.30pm Rochestown Park Hotel
Tuesday 21st March Killarney 6pm Brehon Hotel
Thursday 23rd March Kilkenny 6pm Newpark Hotel
Tuesday 28th March Dundalk 6pm Crowne Plaza Hotel
Wednesday 29th March Newbridge 6pm Keadeen Hotel
Thursday 20th April Cavan 6pm Cavan Crystal
Thursday 20th April UK 6.30pm CIPR, London

We will also schedule some webinars to ensure wide consultation with members who cannot attend the events.

    Yours sincerely

    Eamonn Siggins
    Chief Executive

A good move for both parties i think. IIPA folk will ultimately get into an increasingly respected body, being CPA, and CPA membership shall grow yet further. Win win

Consulting road show period still ongoing. Wish they'd update the website. Very annoying for members who can't attend but want to know about the future of their body.

Jaysus, just goes to show how out of touch I am re the accounting profession, I'd no idea about this.

It will be good to get the IIPA accountants in under the CPA umbrella. In fairness from what I know they are a well run organisation.

However, short term it's not going to stop me slagging my CPA friends :pac:

In fairness, it reads like a takeover.

IIPA is being wound up and their 222 members subsumed into CPA.

I'd imagine staff in IIPA knew they couldn't keep going with such low numbers and just 41 students.

I'm surprised they had 41 students.
