    If you register an electronics company in the uk and start importing say dairy produce, do you have to let the companies house know that?

    That would depend on what is include in the aims of the company - some have a generic 'make money' clause included.

    Depends on the Memorandum and Articles of the Company whether that activity is authorised. If it is not then your creditors may not be able to sue you for the unauthorised use. There is long standing case law on this.

    In Ireland the new Companies Act grants limited companies a wide array of activities. I think the UK is behind us in that regard.

    Nope; the requirement for an objects clause for UKbcompanies was dropped wef 1 Oct 2009 although pre existing companies may still be restricted and new cos can opt to have one. It's less obvious because there's no equivalent of DAC designation.
