    Anyone any thoughts on this.

    RTI is return to invoice
GAP is Guaranteed Asset protection for the first 3 years.

There are plenty competing, cheaper offers of this insurance in the UK, mainly aimed at the PCP/HP transactions but am not aware of any here.

The GAP policy, in theory, will, in the event of the car been written off, pay the difference between the insurance payout and what I pay, in cash for the car.
    the example they give is
    Cash price paid: 26.5k
    Insurance pay 15.0k
GAP/RTI will pay 11.5k, in theory!

The cost of this is €395

The Supagard is a inside and outside fabric and paint protector.

    The cost is €299

And of course when you do the two, there is a discount so the net is €600.

Would welcome any thoughts, especially on the GAP.

Know a guy that works in insurance, they mostly sell to UK. He was telling me about GAP insurance. Said everyone in UK buys it. Very rare to go without it. Not really an option in Ireland....I think a few companies like his are launching into Ireland and trying to bring it in

They aim it at all new buyers to make up the instant drop in value when you drive out of dealer.

From insurance company point of view it means more profit.

It make a lot of sense if you are doing a PCP or HP or other deal where you still owe the money, a bit like life cover for cars!!

GAP/ RTI is offered by most dealers these days, its a nice little earner. It has its place if you think you'll need it, like any insurance policy. Some standard motor policys offer similar cover as standard so make sure you dont already have thst level of cover.

Supaguard/ Guardx/ Lifeshine is not really worth it. The car will look great on the day and you get a nice gimmicky kit that you'll never use but in terms of protection it's fairly useless and for the price you pay for it, you'd buy some great products through your own avenues.

Both are just up sell target items for the salesman though really.

I would rather pay someone like "detailed by Dave" or get Brian in Spirit Detailing to do the car instead of the dealer putting the supaguard on it.

When would you get this done: once it comes off the garage forecourt?

Yes tell them you want the delivery stickers left on it also. And of course do not wash.

Say above and leave into any good detailer.

Some insurance companies will replace a new car within its first year or so in the event of a crash. Footprint insurance through chill does 2 years.

I wouldn't go near Superguard. Had it done on the last car and it is a complete waste of money. Don't get seduced by the sales patter. While it may be an ok/mediocre product, there is no guarantees that it will be applied properly. ALSO, Superguard will not stand by the guarantee unless you continue to buy and use their products. As someone else has already mentioned, get it to a respected detailer for protection- it will cost around the same and last a lot longer.

We have a great detailing forum at our fingertips here and YouTube is littered with brilliant tutorials if you are any way DIY detailing inclined, Supagard a waste of money as other posters said...

Realistically, if you can go a day or two without it I'd collect from garage and drop straight to detailed. Ask garage not to wash but this instruction is often ignored in my experience.

During the warranty period you have these for free with most EVs. But it's definitely handy to have in the case of those importing 2nd hand vehicles or who are out of warranty.

Do either of these cover roadside assistance for a puncture?

Yes, "roadside assistance" covers puncture and running out of fuel(electric or dino juice).
