I've just set up my new Apple TV but I wanted to download some apps I use in my iPad e.g. 3player, RTÉ Player, All4 etc but I can't seem to find them in the App Store. What am I missed no here or what is the purpose of Apple TV?!!!!

You can AirPlay all of these to your tv through your Apple TV.

Due to a combination of rights issues and competition, Apple TV versions of many of these app aren’t available. Apple built the platform but they can’t make rights holders and services use it. Letting people watch on mobile is one thing, but traditional broadcasters usually have their own tv boxes and would rather lose their business to piracy than make an iTunes-esque deal with Apple.

I bought a jailbroken Apple TV 2 from Adverts. Works grand for what I need it for. But I'd like to be able to add a few apps to the home screen. WWE Network for example, but I cannot access the itunes store for anything but movies.

    Any ideas?

As an aside, I use the airplay through an iphone 4 and works grand. But when I try airplay from my iphone 6 all I get is sound and no picture. Thats pretty irritating.

I've never had a problem air playing anything from my iPhone 6 to my ATV2. It's not jailbroken anymore though so it's possible you're having problems because the firmware is so old.
