Having an issue with my cmax 04 1.6 tdci.
Engine is running abit rough and turbo is kicking in late at around 3000 revs instead of 1700( what its apparently meant to be)
Turbo is less then a year old.
Pressure converter for the turbo was new and put in a few months back.
    What should I check?
    Thanks
Oh and was serviced around 6500miles(oil and filter).
Air and fuel filter I'd say are due(changed 12500 miles ago)

Oh no, A 1.6 tdci (hdi) with a replacement turbo is certainly a worry.

What was the cause of the initial failure?

Do you know if the correct procedure was carried out when replacing the turbo (basically a full strip down of the top of the engine, and the sump for cleaning).

My money is on the turbo again, starved of oil due to the really bad design of the turbo oil feed banjo bolt.

I have seen on other forums that people reccomend oil change interval on these engines of no more than 6000 miles due to the risk of sludge build up.

Check the actuation rod on the side of the turbo. At startup, it should extend to maximum and then slow retract back to around 40% of travel. Make sure it does this and isn't jammed in the fully extended position. Any behaviour outside of what I've said here needs to be investigated.

After that, it'll need a diagnostic. Could be airflow meter, boost pressure sensor, egr valve or whatever your having yourself I'm afraid.

Report back how you get on

Sorry only getting back now, only recently had a chance to look at it.
So turbo seems all good, mechanic had a look at it,it was boosting OK while revving while idling.
Noticed a bit of oil around the alternator awhile ago but didn't think anything of it!
Found a clamp above the alternator that was loose and was spitting oil out ,was a clamp of a pipe that's connected to the turbo.
Tightened it, all good,no more oil, and turbo seems a bit better as well!!
So people check your clamps :p

Result. Clamps, split hoses etc, recirc valves some cheap fixes for what seems like turbo problems.

    Good result OP!

That particular clamp above the alternator can leak oil and boost pressure even when tight. There's an O-ring seal inside the pipe that can perish or become unseated and cause this problem.
