Product Sourcing

What is with builder providers and DIY stores and their general poor selection of product. It's like if you're not looking for generic 2x4s or bags of cement you're out of luck and any "do you have" questions usually start the shaking of the head before you even finish the sentence.

Pretty much each and every product I've been seeking lately for redoing an ensuite bathroom has been met with difficulty and time wasted. I've had to source a number of products online from the UK and even the US and had difficulty getting black PVC connections and piping indirectly from MFP since they wouldn't deal with the public. (All builder providers and specialist plumbing trade suppliers only stocked white connections and piping)

In my next stage of progression I'm looking for 45mm metal studding known specially as Wall Line GL1. Again builder providers don't stock this and only have 70mm metal stud channels.

Also looking for concrete board screws but most places I've tried never heard of them and instead advised using plaster board screws despite selling concrete board itself. Concrete board screws are similar looking but are galvanised and then coated in a ceramic finish for better resistance to the concrete alkalineness and corrosion so the heavy concrete board doesn't fall off the wall in a couple of years time.

Anyway I found the following website (http://www.fixfactory.ie/) which has a good supply of what I'm looking for but after speaking to them today they will only sell the hanging angle (another product I'm looking for) in the specified bundles of 20 (I only want two lengths) and similarly with the GL2 brackets in cartons of 100. Looks like if you're not willing to buy wholesale lot sizes then again touch luck and they're not interested in the sale.

Anyone have any better sources or find similar when doing DIY jobs. Rant over

My local place is Grange Builders Providers in Baldoyle and I find it great. Good selection of everything, open to the public, and you can buy any quantities.

Not sure where you're located though.
