EIT Genres on Saorview

    Hi,

I use tvheadend for a combined Saorview/Freesat system.

Its not a big deal, but I was wondering is it the case that Saorview EIT does not populate the genre tag for shows. Kodi PVR has a colour based system for genres in the EPG and all my Irish channels show up as blank (i.e. no colour), which leads me to think that 2RN does not populate those 8 bytes in the EIT. Can anyone confirm?

Or is there some problem with the tvheadend EIT grabber?

3e is the only channel here that gets the coloured entries.

I think that only began recently.

Hmmm .. I am not seeing that. Are you sure that that is coming from Saorview and not openTV? I am only seeing "Other/General" as the genre in 3e, same as all 2RN channels.

As I say, its not a big deal or a problem, just a pity that its not populated. I am assuming that the official Saorview boxes do not use this field and therefore it is not populated.

PS: The field is defined in the ETSI DVB SI spec in the Content Descriptor on page 40. http://www.etsi.org/deliver/etsi_en/300400_300499/300468/01.11.01_60/en_300468v011101p.pdf

No, I am not sure of how the 3e colours got there :D
It could well be from something else ..... but if so then why not the other channels?

No colours on the Irish channels (not even 3e) - saorview/freeview with HD Homeruns

This useful field is not populated from 2RN AFAIK. I reckon that JohnnyBoy's is being populated from the opentv sky uk grabber. You can check this (on tvh 4.1 anyway) by selecting the channel in the web interface and editing it to select the EPG source.

Checked here and yes you are indeed correct.
This is what i shown in tvheadend
    opentv-skyuk-3615: opentv-skyuk-3615 (OpenTV: Sky UK)

    against the 3e entry.

I have no idea why the other Irish channels are not apparently listed by opentv-skyuk.
It would be nice if all could get similar colour coding.

    Any hints? :)

This seems to refer to a similar bug being fixed.
