Can anyone tell me the maximum upper limit or threshold limit for Kerosene in water supply.
Is it measured in ug/l or PPM.

    thanks

    Hi archieryan,

    Thanks for getting in touch.

There is no limit for Kerosene in water supply. However, the below parameters would be frequently tested in regulatory drinking water audit samples on public supplies. These parameters as specified in the regulations are used as the main indicators of any hydrocarbon based fuel contamination.

    Benzene: 1.0 ug/l
    Benzo(a)pyrene: 0.010 ug/l
PAH (Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons) Total: 0.10 ug/l

I hope this information helps, please let us know if there is anything else we can help you with.

    Kind regards,
    Allanah

Thats a bit of a wide range. 1.0 to 0.010 ug/l . How close would kerosene be to Benzene.
Do you know if there is a recommended filter suitable for such hydrocarbons.

    Thanks

    Hi Archieryan,

The figures we provided, in our previous post, are the specific parametric limits for Benzene (1.0ug/L), Benzo(a)pyrene (0.010ug/L), and Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (0.10ug/L).

Kerosene is a fuel and is distilled from crude oil. The other main distillates from crude oil are Petrol and Diesel. Benzene is a constituent of crude oil and therefore can be found in Kerosene.

In regards to the installation of an appropriate filter to remove petrochemical contaminants such as Kerosene, we would recommend that you contact a reputable supplier of domestic water treatment units.

We hope this information helps and if you have future queries, please feel free to contact us.

    Thanks,
    Alex
