My uncle is 67, was retired there last year and hasn't been the same since he stopped working. Was wanting to ask does anyone have any advice for him about getting a part time job, he drives etc so was hoping that would make it easier.

He lost his sister (my mother) there last week and was wanting to help as he's really down now, which is understandable. Any advice welcome. Thanks :)

Apologies but I've no advice, I'm just very sorry for your loss, and best of luck, this is a great thing to do for your uncle. Does he have any hobbies? It's a difficult change in life for some, retirement, and now it's made even more difficult with this loss.

I'm very sorry for your loss.
My girlfriend lost her dad the year before last and it was very tough, still is.

    What hobbies does he have?

Going from him enjoying driving, would he consider doing take away delivery? No set up required and he could be working tonight if he started looking?
He could pick up a taxi licence.
He could join Uber (if they're still operating here)

Is it a job for money or more to fill his time that you are looking for? Meals on wheels are often looking for drivers to deliver a couple of times a week. This could be a rewarding thing for him too.

Would he be chatty and a bit of a DIY man? Woodies look for older men to work in their stores. They're chatty, patient and full of ideas.

There's loads of things he could be doing. I know retired people who are now working voluntary -

    1. Doing charity work with SV de Paul.
    2. Helping in a Soup Kitchen.
    3. Helping adults to read and write (ETB and NALA train you) Do this myself.
    4. Join a Tidy Towns group.
    5. Meals on Wheels.

He worked in a bakery all his life, not too sure.

Thanks for the kind comments and suggestions, it's really appreciated lads.
