Hi, long story short, I think I've been conned. Saw a pair of tickets on Gumtree, emailed seller, good price and seemed genuine (hindsight is great, eh). Seller sent me pictures of tickets, picture of receipt, address, bank details etc so stupidly fell for it. Transferred money to the account he gave me at 4pm ish earlier.

Just by chance, think it all felt too good to be true, got OH to email claiming to be interested in same tickets. Seller said they're still available and could be collected tomorrow (although he's said he's posting them to me tomorrow).

Anyway, licking my wounds and feeling very very foolish indeed. What are my options, if any? Can bank cancel transfer? Any chance I'll get my money back?

Talk to bank immediately. They normally have a 24 hour security hotline.

Maybe he has more than the two advertised , and decided to sell them in separate lots. Just maybe .

Was gonna say the same but if the OP's gut instinct is telling them it's just too just a price to be true then it probably is. You could wait and see but it best to be safe.

Next time pay through PayPal it's much safer. Con artists ask for bank transfers

gumtree is nest for scammers, from personal experience.

As said get in touch with bank since transfers usually takes few days to clear 3 in most cases. Thus if getting onto right person would be possible to reverse since if not mistaking they que up for the day to be processed at the end of it.

paypal is safe choice in future.

You can't stop a bank transfer. You've lodged the money to them willingly, and the bank will not reverse that without the recipient approving it. If this is a scam, then they've got you.

Report it to the Garda Siochanna then tell the bank cancel it and give the bank the crime report number.

Neither of these will work. There's no crime here until after you don't receive the tickets, and even then it's a civil matter and the buyer's word against the seller's. The Gardai will not waste their time on this. The bank will not cancel a lodgement to another person's account under any circumstances.

well agree about gardai not getting involved, would be waste of time and resources, since OP would have to wait a week at least to make sure he didnt get the tickets and then pursue matter, which when it comes to tickets, its sort of grey area since some companies dont even allow to resell them.

Anyway as bank goes, thought it would be possible to cancel transaction, since wire transfer always takes 3 days to be fully processed, thus not even remotely instant like say paypal transfer.
