Switching from AIB to Ulster Bank

    Hi Folks

Due to excessive bank charges, I'm thinking of making the switch from AIB to Ulster Bank. Problem being, that I have both an overdraft and personal loan with AIB and am wondering if it is possible to transfer these balances to an Ulster Bank current account? Has anyone had experience with this?

    Thanks,
    Jenn

Why Ulster Bank? Why not KBC (no fees if you deposit at least 2,500 EUR per month) or EBS (no fees but no rather basic)?

Your personal loan should not be tied to your current account. You can switch current account and keep your loan with AIB.

I would avoid Ulster Bank as still would not have confidence in it's I.T. Department.

Check out EBS Money Manager Account.

I suppose the reasoning behind Ulster Bank is that they only charge €4 a month as my income going in would be below €2500 - I would also be happier being relatively close to a branch and the nearest EBS to me is a 30 minute drive away whereas AIB, Ulster and BOI are only a 10 minute drive.

Open a savings account with Ulster Bank and a current account with EBS - bottom line is it's easy to get your day to day banking for FREE.

I wouldn't pay any fees when you can get services for FREE.

You could then use Ulster for lodging cheques etc.

If OP wants an overdraft facility though, EBS won't do.

Should be no issue getting an overdraft with Ulster Bank as long as your credit history is clean but you can't transfer an overdrawn balance.

PTSB would be the best option.

Their current offering is 5 euro a month but give 10c back in each card transaction up to 4 euro

-It's actually the other way around and not the best option when you have EBS Money Manager.

I'm lucky as I got in under the lodge €1,500 a month and you get FREE banking with PTSB but that's now gone.
