SCANNING COWS

    Can anybody give advice. I got cows scanned first week in January, one of the cows calved last night. She had twins and the second calf died. We thought she only had the one. Cow not easy handle after calving. Should guy scanning have known that she had twins. Thanks

    No That was way too late to detect twins.

    If you want to detect twins or sex of calves scanning ideally should be done 30 to 40 days after being bred. That was too late to tell. I left scanning till Sept and 5 sets of twins not shown but my own fault as should have scanned earlier

    Spoke with my vet on the sex of calves and he is slow to scan for sex calf as his view was leads to repeats.
