Problems with Autopoint Car Sales?

    Hi folks,

Just wondering if anybody has had any problems with Autopoint car sales in the past? I bought a 318 M Sport for my wife there before Christmas. Before collecting it, it had to go to their mechanic for a few bits and pieces. When I came back to collect it, JJ was really great to deal with, a lovely guy. As I went to drive away however I noticed that the rear lamp unit was now broken AND the service book and all of the booklets were missing.

JJ apologise profusely and said he would go to the mechanic and get them if I can arrange to pop by to grab them. No problem from my end.

That was 14th December. I have been on and on since and I can't get the items. I don't want the car unless it has it's service book and history.

I even drove to Autopoint to ask what was happening and I was told by the other guy in there that JJ no longer works out of that yard.

Anybody any advice? It's coming up to it's three month end of warranty.

Did you take the car, or is it still in the yard waiting for paperwork?

JJ is probably gone off to make another movie but I'm sure he will be back to sort it all out. :pac:

Seriously though OP, I think it's fair to say you are being given the run around here. Sometimes it can be best to just cut these chances just loose given that they can be slippery characters who can waste more of your time and effort dodging your phone calls and visits than it's worth, especially now that the warranty is nearly at an end.

Out of curiosity, how much was the car and what year was it?

Is it Autopoint or is it JJ that you bought the car off?

    Thanks for the responses folks.

The car was only 5k - however, I have no documentation now with it and I'll be married to it should I ever want to move it on.

I bought it in Autopoint Car Sales Limekiln Avenue - but the guy there now is like 'well JJ will sort it' but he doesn't.

If you want to pursue it forget about JJ.
You bought the car off auto point car sales so put it to them to rectify it.
You'll have to become a thorn in their side to get a result. The result won't get you the service history though, you can safely assume there is none with the car.

    Hi Folks....
The above well that's not exactly correct is it <Here the rep from Autopoint uses a poster's real name which is against site rules>

Yes there was a slight delay with the service history....But Joe Duffy BMW had it on record,so hardly the end of the world??? All other documents/paperwork were in the Wallet of manuals....And as regards the Rear Lamp "being broken"...It was a hairline crack that wasn't noticed for weeks...
    I repeat WEEKS later...
Mechanic mislayed service book when he had it....????

Ok, have to respond to this.

Thanks for including my name on you post, I will remove that and have requested that to be the case.

    Firstly:
Joe Duffy won't release it to anybody but the person who serviced the car. I am happy enough with that however as they declared it has been kept up to date. I found that out 9.5 weeks after collection.

    Secondly:
I received NO document of manuals OR sleeve. You even confirmed to me that this is missing. I need to purchase all of this now myself. Unless you do have it?

    Thirdly:
The 'hairline crack' is allowing water in. It is not a hairline crack, it is fully taped up and it was noticed within 48 hours and you were informed (i have all of the text messages screen shotted).

    Finally:
JJ told me that the mechanic mislaid the service book.

I have all of this saved in text messages - end to end. Happy to share them.

Nice first post Pablo210. Instead of trying to hoodwink people why not fix the op's problems as any reputable garage would do. Regardless of who mislaid the service book it is up to Autopoint to provide the original or a copy of same. Does'nt instill confidence in your organisation.
