Hi guys, hope this is the correct forum.

Have an LG Plasma TV that has recently started displaying vertical lines
on the right hand side of the screen.

Anybody know what causes this and is it worth getting fixed?

Looks like a TCONboard issue . Probably about 100 to 150 to have fixed . Only a novice here but from my own experiences it probably isn't worth it .

Thanks for that, not worth fixing at that price

A long shot, but no effort to try this: try setting the backlight setting to MAX (if not the case already)

A few years ago a Sharp Aquos LCD-TV model LC-32P50E intermittently would have similar vertical lines take over the whole picture (regardless of input) , sound was unaffected.

It was discovered that setting the backlight to MAX (it hadn't been) cured this fault and its still in use without reoccurance 4 years later!
(had to wait until the fault wasn't happening to be able to see the menu)

I assume that the backlight's powersupply generated increased electrical noise when it was on less than full power and this started to sometimes causing the picture processing to crash?

came across a couple of pics I took:

if it is a plasma tv as stated in the post there is no backlight im afraid.
i did see an old panasonic plasma with similar lines on the screen and the fault was caused by loose connections on the plug/socket of the ribbon cable connecting the panel on that side of the screen... i also saw a plasma that the fault was the plasma panel itself im afraid so its hard to say from the picture.
