    Hi
I bought stocks a few years ago with Davy but sold off because I was paying more money in just holding them because of the yearly subscription. Is there a way to trade stocks without paying someone to hold them?

    Whats the transfer window?

Im guessing its a football pun on Anthony Stokes, based on typo in the thread title :D

As above, check out degiro.ie. Cheapest way by far.

The other thread only proved that Degiro is as unsafe as any other online broker.

That's interesting. I assumed if I buy the shares I own the shares. My problem with Davy was once I buy the shares from them I pay money. I then have to rent the shares to keep my account open. Then when I sell I pay more money.

I assume that Degiro lets me buy the shares and I own them and I no longer pay any money to them for account maintenance.
If I buy shares from Degiro or any of these brokers, do I get papers to say I own them?

And how do I sell them on, for example if I buy with Degiro and they go out of business how do I sell my shares again after?

When you start questioning why you can't own something with the convenience of it being digital but also without counterparty risk you'll eventually arrive at cryptocurrency and realise why it can be revolutionary.
