So I ordered sky broadband in November and after a month they rang me to say they couldn't give me broadband because I have a carrier line so I can get either broadband or phone but not both. So I explained the situation to Vodafone and they offered me stand alone broadband. It still won't work any body any ideas what might be up ?. I'm really at my wit's end now.

Carrier lines are split lines. Basically take one line, feed two homes but only capable of phone and dialup.

Getting yourself moved back to a regular line is difficult a d sometimes impossible. Order phone, get it connected, then report a fault and hope the technician is cooperative.

Why was I told by the the eircom technician that I can get broadband then ? I was told this when he came out to test the line for sky.

Yeah sorry I can't expect you to know , is there a way of maybe paying someone independent to fix this for me or is it all down to eircom ? I rang Vodafone and they said that it shows my line is active so I'm stumped

Sorry I should say my line has been tested and it passed and Vodafone are saying that my line is active on their end .

Its their job to get it actually working, call them and book a technician for next week. Nobody else can work on OpenEir plant.

They'll remove it and give you a radio line capable of just voice

They're not provided anymore, could only of been a replacement for an existing one. In fact theyre recovering ones where possible.
