I have a 2012 vrs for the last 16 months. Recently my mate brought one from the uk, exact same only 2010.

I dont see any difference but mate is adamant that his is faster or mine is down on power.

Mine has no engine lights on and i replaced the turbo went i got it ( a ring in tne turbo leaked so got it reworked )

How would i check if its down on power? The mechanic used the vag programme and nothing found. Its booked in for a service and the emissions remap end of next week

Could there be a difference. Im of the opinion thst im just used to driving mine now so i know how a vrs drives and because his new to them he doesnt

Dont get the emissions fix if you're already concerned about it being down on power

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,522 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

Do your research before doing it. Not a chance I'd do it.

Don't get it done. To many risks of it causing problems and no advantages.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,068 ✭✭✭Specialun

    Why not get it done?

Too many reports from people that have gotten it done of power loss, increased fuel useage, rattling from the engine (possible from premature detonation of the fuel) and the egr valve is being used more too which will lead to earlier failure of the egr valve.

As I said, to many risks in getting it done. My vrs is booked in for a service next week and they had no problem with not doing the "fix" when I told them not to.

Italian speed.com do chipped boxes ..up to extra 50 hp(80 euro)works fine on my vrs..definitely makes a difference..this might help

did he give a reason why he thinks his has more power?

    is his petrol?

in the diesel there are two power options a 167 and a 170 unit

  • Registered Users Posts: 285 ✭✭butrasgali

    Are you getting another vrs??

I assume they put both cars on a rolling road and did a power check at tuning facility.

Or it could be just willy waving.

Get both on a dyno, that will tell.

It's quite possible that the other car has been remapped.

Just go to a private road and race

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,055 ✭✭✭selectamatic

Find a nice quiet "private" road ;) and carry out the required scientific test.

Also as above, don't get the vw "fix".

Edit: brown won this particular race

    Auto?

That's pretty good for a diesel vrs if it's manual, definitely not down on power then, our you've got skill

Very hard to get manufacturer times in a manual, without abusing the clutch.

I had a Mazda 3 mps and could barely get under 8 sec even though it should do under 6 sec

Takes skill to get the power down and clutch out in a manual without spinning the **** out of the wheels in fwd

I was hopeless at it, as I'd say majority are

Get your mate to drive both of them blindfolded so he won't know which one is which.

When is the new vRS specs and prices coming out??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,076 ✭✭✭GustavoFring

They're on the configurator but the extras pricing isn't up yet. So whatever you add is priced as zero. Should be in line with the old model for extras though. I have a rough list of some extra prices form the old one here if you want any.

It looks to be the same spec as the last one with the exception of the 9.2 inch nav being standard on launch cars at least. Add 600 to the price for delivery.

VRS isn't... I have heard that it will be q3 before VRS details. You can build a new VRS on the Czech site... to me it looks like they have lost spec in the facelift.. apart from the new larger headunit.

The Czech spec was different to ours. The new model VRS is on the Irish configurator the last week or so. Easy to judge the spec from the options on that.

Is it starting about €1000 more than the old model??

They a dyno run often showed up differently on them.

    They were 170ps - 168bhp - 125kw engines.

    Current ones are 184ps - 181bhp - 135kw.

0% finance is being removed for the new Octavia also. And 0% is going at the end of March for the Superb.

I am picking up a new Superb Style Combi tomorrow - can't wait. First "New" car ever :D

    I know that
I was talking about the Mk2 CR specifically.
    and they were not 168bhp
    they were 167 :D

125kw converted to ps is 170 ps

125kw converted to bhp is 167.6 bhp

170ps converted to bhp is 167.7 bhp

I don't know anyone who rounds down... :D

You should get it lowered, install a dump valve, add 20 inch rims and remove the Skoda badge on the front and back. All contributes to better BHP and improved aerodynamics.
