Radiator problem

Ok long story short. Had a problem with a rad in the child's room. Rad was hot at the top and cold at the bottom. Eventually got round today to taking the rad off and low and behold the balancing side was clogged with black sludge. So brought the rad outside and hooked up the garden hose to it and ran it full belt until the water ran clear. This took about 10 mins or so. Put the rad back on the wall and put the heating on. All the other rads in the house where hot and the offending one was just starting to warm up. So I turned all the TRVs off on the rest of the house and it took a good 20 mins for the offending rad to heat up. The heat was good in the rad no cool spots so I reckon the sludge is gone. Have I another problem that's causing the rad to heat slowly. I bled all the air out and the valves are full open.

sounds like a sticky trv,a cpl of light taps of a hammer to the metal body should open it up

No the TRV is fine. The plunger is sliding up and down freely. I even swapped the heads with another rad just in case the head was faulty but no joy. I had the heating on again earlier and it took 15 mins for the offending rad to start getting heat at the flow side. I even lifted the floor board to see if the pipe was squeezed but no all seems fine

If that's the case leave the head off it turn off all othe rads and send it all to that rad for a while

Send all the Heat to the broken rad, Zone off other Rads
