I'm looking at a 3 year old S80 in the UK. Two litre diesel. 100k miles, FVSH, high spec, seems very clean.

They seem to offer very good value for what you get. Has anyone owned any of the recent ones? Is there anything I should look out for?

    Thanks.

CO2 emissions are 114 so motor tax and vrt are relatively low.

What about a S80 with the 1.6 DRIVe diesel engine, would it be underpowered for a car this size?

1.6 definitely underpowered and not a Volvo engine. Go for 2.0 if you can.

    Which engine is it? At 3 years old it's probably a D3 or D4 - Volvo's 5 cylinder 2.0d.

D3 is 150 bhp, or maybe 163 depending on the exact version. D4 is more powerful, or possibly the 163 version - it all got a bit confusing for a while.

The 1.6 isn't actually that bad, but I still wouldn't. The 2.0d badged versions were better than the 1.6 but still not great. Any power variant of the Volvo 5 cylinder engine is what you want.

With such low CO2 I guess it's a manual? You better be prepared to spend a while with it as it's going to be hard to sell on, hence why its cheap in the first place.
