Hi all my smears have been abnormal for 2.5 years now even after procedures in colposcopy clinics to remove them. They did the hpv test to and that was normal but aftet smear last week they told me they would be starting treatment soon and it would either be in maternity hospital or the other hospital depending on biopsy results. I haven't a clue what's going on so I rang and asked. The nurse just said because abnormal cells keep showing up after cold caulterisation was done treatment was required and she said he had hysterectomy wrote in my notes... is this right. Im 35. My mother got CC at 39-40 and lost her life to it at 44 so I'm kinda freaking out a little.

    Hi Queenie1981.

You need to have a discussion with either your gp or your gynaecologist. They will be able to explain everything that is planned for you. There are various surgical procedures that can be carried out depending on the stage & diagnosis. There should also be a nurse practitioner available that can discuss things at this stage.
If you are overwhelmed then maybe you should consider bringing someone along with you which can be really helpful. Best of luck

A close friend has had similar for 3+ years and needed me to pick them up after one of the treatments. Telling me at the weekend that there are more abnormal cells there but this time they have just biopsied as a precaution. She is older than you and hysterectomy has not been mentioned. Another friend has had abnormal cells a few times with removal treatments twice (LETZ I think), also no mention of a hysterectomy and she had that for over 5 years.

They really should be having a discussion with you first, maybe talk to the NP and as said above, if comfy, bring someone else with you.
