    Hi all,

Looking for a Karting recommendation for my 16 year old. He's got a little experience having been on a few school/birthday trips to Kart City by the airport.

If such a thing exists I'd like to get him a days training where he'd learn about the mechanics of the Kart, some classroom theory on driving skills and/or some on track instruction followed by some time on the track and maybe analysis of his driving so he actually learns something from the day rather than the usual go out, have a blast for a couple of hours and enjoy it but learn nothing.

    Possible?

We live in the Sandyford area so happy to travel +/- 40 minutes or so to the right location.

Appreciate any suggestions you may have.

Don't know any places your side of the country but if ye are ever in the west you should check out tynagh go karting in Galway.europes largest outdoor track.if it was a quiet day there the lads would probably show ye around a bit. The shed they work on the karts is in the pits so if it was a quiet day during the week they would probably give you a look around.nice place and staff are sound

I've been to Pallas karting and it's a great day out. If you can organise more than 12 people or so you can do their GP experience with heats and even trophies at the end.

There is a much bigger go kart track north of Dublin though http://www.whiteriver.ie/ it's got much better facilities too.

I work at Whiteriver, we have numerous members of staff, myself included, that have experience in mechanics & racing, if you come out on a quiet day we will have no problem having an extended chat about the ins and outs of the sport. We also host club and irish championship karting races (this year we have 5) they are great chances to meet a friendly bunch of people and possibly get him out racing (it can be much much cheaper than you think)

We are hosting round 1 of Tullyallen Karting Clubs championship on Sunday March 26th and a round of the Motorsport Ireland national championships the following Sunday (April 2nd). It's free entry for spectators with hot food, services and covered viewing balcony all on site.
