In the process of getting quotes for a small bathroom, just checking im getting an electric shower etc the gut told me i need to change the tanks in the attic as they are Galvanised steel and they could burst and they nees to be changed to plastic

is this normal practice thanks in advance

Yes this is normal practice. Galvanized tanks corrode over time and become weak, any interference with them can and will cause a complete or partial collapse of the tank.
