    Guys , just looking for some help . Have a wireless extension kit to control flow on a three way valve going in hot press . But it looks like a wire is needed to go back to the boiler . Can anyone enlighten me as to the NO (hot tank) ,O (valve) and SL (boiler) .

    Thanks in advance.

    As making the electrical connection to the Gas Boiler involves the removal of the cover you will need to involve a Registered Gas Installer to complete the work for you.
    No advise can be given here to persons looking to carry out any works on a Gas Appliance, this includes the electrical hook up to the boiler.

    I appreciate that and my plumber is fitting it next Tuesday, I'm just looking to understand it. Whilst the tado was a breeze to fit , he needs to change a two port valve to a three port and fit a thermostat to the hot tank . Way beyond my capabilities.
    I'd just like to understand it a bit better as Tado sold me the unit on the premise that I would not meet cable run back .

    You already should have wires from your two ports going back to your boiler so wires shouldn't be a problem what's more important is your bringing 240v back to the boiler when most modern gas boilers are low voltage and as it's a switch live it can still allow power on to the boiler(similar thing nearly killed me:mad:) if the boiler isolation switch is only for the boiler and not as it should be the whole heating wiring system.

    I wouldn't worry too much as long as the two points above are taken into account your RGI only has to exactly copy the wiring plan which is easy enough

    Are you asking what the abbreviations might stand for?

    It's tricky, basically because of the three port valve. If you look up the data sheet for one of these valves and read it carefully, things will become clearer.

    Thats the thing , at the moment there is no cables running from Hot Press back to boiler . I assumed that the extension kit would go in hot press and control everything wirelesly. No from what I understand , The existing Tado Smart thermo which now calls for the boiler becomes just a wireless thermo and the extension kit calls for the boiler and controls the three way flow .
    So my plumber will have to chase cables between wherever we decide to put EK the valves and the boiler .

    NO = Normally Open
    O=Orange
    SL = Switched Live

    If you could at all and if your Plumbing supports I would consider putting in

    2 port valves of which you would need 2 much more reliable than 3 port imho especially if you use a quality valve like Honeywell
