Just wondering on peoples opinions. Im looking for a second car for herself. Have a commercial jeep myself but with a bun in the oven were gonna need a 'family' car. Not sure of budget, under 5k anyway Id say. So im wondering...for that price range are the savings worth it?

Not really at that price level. Republic of Ireland has cheaper cheap cars than anywhere else in the world if that makes sense!

Even a few hundred quid in travel expenses up and down a few times eats into it, not so much in a 20k purchase.

But I suppose decide what you want in a car then compare prices

Commercial jeeps don't really exist in the UK, they are converted from passenger vehicles in Ireland for tax reasons.

So I'd be better off buying a passenger and converting it when I bring it here?

There is a crowd in Dublin I think that do most of the commercial conversions but I think Revenue are gone very strict around what can qualify as a commercial vehicle these days.

It will have to be registered as commercial in UK first though I think

These crowd do a lot of the local commercial conversions for some of the manufacturers.
