I dont know why people do this exam tbh. Unless you intend practicing in NY.

I don't know anyone that has it or how it has assisted in practice.

I am interested in possibly going over of successful, and I have a few contacts over there. I should add that I am a trainee solicitor and have a law background.

I would be doing primarily for my own personal reasons and interest, hence why I am keen to avoid the big fee for a prep course as the qualification is not a necessity more a personal ambition!

Anyone I've spoken to is either my age (30-40s) and did it but came back. One remarking the $140,000 was nice but the 100 hour weeks were killing him - I belive he remarked he was in a fairly junior role at the time.

People closer to the age of bright young things - incluing one chap with contacts out there, loads of debating and such experiance, First class honours from Trinity etc. was told, why would we hire an Irish person when we have US graduates? Bearing in mind their graduates are a) used to the work ethic and b) post grad students.

Not saying don't do it, I just think there could be much better uses of one's time such as getting in over here with a firm in that is also in that jurisdiction and going from there.
