    Hi

Has anybody any experience of seborrheic dermititis and possible treatment options. I have been suffering with it on my genital and anal region for 4 months now. Have been prescribed all manner of creams including steroids and anti bacterials with limited success. It keeps flaring up.

Have been suffering with stress and anxiety in recent times which my gp seems to think is the cause of the seb dermititis. I am talking to a professional about these issues but I am still anxious in relation to the dermititis. Overall it is having a very negative effect on my well being and I would be delighted if anyone could share their experiences and if possible recommend any dermatologists.

    Thank you in advance.

    Mod note

A reminder that posters are very welcome to talk about their own experiences but should not be advising the OP on treatment, as no one can know what treatments may be suitable/appropriate in the OP's case. If any clarification is needed, please PM me.

    Kurt

Interesting, I'll follow this with considerable interest as I struggle to differentiate between seborrheic dermatitis, flexural (aka inverse) psoriasis and candida intertrigo.

I was hoping to respond to currants however I see his post is now gone. I have since tried the Nizoral shampoo, twice daily and can honestly say it has been the most effective treatment I have used to date. Thank you currants if you are reading this. In addition I am using some Bethamethasone (bethnovate) to reduce any inflammation this is a mild petroleum based steroid. Although I will need to reduce this over time to avoid any adverse side effects from the steroid.

Is nizoral over the counter or prescription? Also is it expensive?

I was initially diagnosed by a GP I visited with candidal intertrigo. This was after being also told it was jock itch, and contact dermititis. I finally went to a dermatologist who diagnosed the SD, although this was just a visual exam, no skin scraping or lab test was conducted to confirm. From a lot of online research it has all the symptoms of SD and I am happy with this diagnosis but I can see were the similarities and confusion may lie.

It can be purchased OTC and is about €15 per bottle.

There are smaller bottle of nizoral too. It did not do much for me, I was very surprised to see it had sodium lauryl sulfate in it, a foaming agent known to cause skin issues.

I used this place recently and was happy with them
