Hi everyone, I'm looking to pick knowledgeable brains. I'm coordinating a couch to 5k group of teenagers in north Kildare. I'd like to bring them to a 5k in April/may but ideally it's one that has a little bit of bling and fun atmosphere for them to celebrate and show off so to speak. We can travel within an hour or so, so Dublin would be fine and some of Meath/Wicklow even.

    Would anyone have any recommendations?

If you skim past the posts by people explaining why adults shouldn't want medals (I know your group is teens), there are loads of good recommendations for races with good medals here too:

What about the Dunboyne 4 Mile? It has a great 'after party' type session in the local community centre with live trad music, prize givings and a spread of goodies like you've never seen before. Ideal for teenagers to hang out in after the race. If they enter on time they'll get an engraved medal holder (for future medals!) and a running diary to record their training and racing. There's a fantastic atmosphere - the course goes through the village three times before finishing on the village green and there are hundreds of locals out cheering everyone on. And if you have 25 or more you're entitled to our Captain's Concession which gives you four euro back per head (5 if it's more than 40). You can enter them as teams if you like - they'll hardly win the 'corporate team challenge' if they're beginners but you can have a big of rivalry going on within the group. PM me if you've any questions! PS We're also going to have pacers but haven't announced that yet so don't tell anyone ;)
