Hi just looking for some views. Being in a job for 6 successful years Got on very well with previous md but new one came in just when sales were poor. Got off to bad start but knew it was just timing. Anyway mad reshuffled the level above me but did not get considered for promotion and instead someone from external dept became my new boss while my existing boss got moved to a new role.

Anyway was asked was I interested in a new role in a different dept to which I was as it is a little closer to home. Went got 2 interviews and was offered the job. This is s scale above my job with 7 people reporting into me and allot more responsibility. However there is no salary or perk increase despite negotiations as I am already over the pay scale as I am in the company a number of years.
Had a chat with md and they were saying don't take if not happy with it buys it's s good career move for me and would make me attractive for s senior role in main dept in years to come.

So would you take on a new role with allot more responsibility for no extra pay?

Might sound trite, but only you can answer this. From what you write the company appear to be acting perfectly reasonably so it comes down to a simple question of what you value more, career progression or X cash for Y work done.

Ah yea very fond of the company and they are good to work for. Just feels a bit strange to get promoted but no extra pay

Yes and after a few years experience I changed employers and got the money to match.

Look at it this way, your sole option at present is to earn the same salary regardless but you have a chance now to do something to get that back in the future.
