I have a double built in wardrobes with normal hinge doors and I want to replace the doors with sliding doors to save space.

    Is this possible?

Yes, it may have to be mounted external to the existing wardrobe and take up between 60 and 75mm of space
The math as to what number of doors is simple enough, the max width of the doors is about 90cm so just measure up.
You may find suitable sizes second hand on the web:
    eg

The other thing to consider is if a sliding door will interfere with accessibility.
I saw one 3 sliding door retro done where the doors blocked an internal draw unit!

Yea that should be pretty easy. You just need the right plans in place first. The nicest slide doors I saw where mirrored. Had a type of smoky glass in them Certainly brightened up the rooms and made it easy to ger dressed in the morning.
    Definitely recommend it.
